Tree in the Cemetery

How little troubled
my mother is walking
about the cemetery
where almost everyone
loved has found repose.
She mentions names and dates,
reads their softened edges
to my children, who remark
the magnolia here differs
from one we have at home.
Their grandmother seems sure
what I will hear later about
this day will include
more than the tree.
